Fictions of Every Kind: Revelation (September 2012)

We hate to self-aggrandise. We do, really. But just this once, I think Fictions of Every Kind can afford to give itself a gentle pat on the back; for in September, we are bringing you a true belter.

September 11th: Fictions of Every Kind: Revelation Wharf Chambers*, 23-25 Wharf Street, Leeds 19.30 start, £3 entry

Mishka Shubaly has written three bestselling Kindle Singles for Amazon.com. Described by The Outlet as “hilarious, vulgar, probing and intensely readable”, and also sometimes “brilliant, inspiring, idiotic, filthy”, he writes about drink, drugs, sobriety, disaster, love and other disappointments. He plays bass in Freshkills and lives in Brooklyn.

Les Malheureux Les Malheureux is a unique collaboration between flash fiction writers David Gaffney, author of the critically acclaimed collections Sawn-off Tales,Aromabingo and The Half-life Of Songs plus the novel Never Never, and Sarah-Clare Conlon, editor of the anthology Quickies: Short Stories For Adults. “Expansive emotions, sweeping plots and complex characters are distilled into micro-fictions often no more than 300 words in length – some funny, some profound – and each is performed to specially composed musical pieces against a backdrop of either slide show or PowerPoint presentation.”

As ever, there’ll be an open mic at which stories, true stories and flash fiction are all welcomed. Please keep your contributions at 7 minutes or under.

Music at this event will come from post-dark ambient, drone noise, violin led noiseniks HELICOPTER QUARTET.
