Fictions of Every Kind: Apocalypse (Dec 2012)

Fictions of Every Kind: Apocalypse

Tuesday December 11th, Wharf Chambers, Leeds (£3 in)

Ding dong merrily on high, it’s the almost-Christmas Fictions event! According to the Mayan calendar, we’re all due a massive saving on Christmas this year as the world burns to an end on December 21st. To celebrate this excellent nugget of nutjobbery, we’re theming our December event ‘Apocalypse’.We’ll be screening some award-winning short films as part of this event, and our invited speaker will be:

Anneliese Mackintosh. Anneliese is based in Manchester, with an M.Litt in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow, Her fiction has been broadcast on BBD Radio 4 and BBC Scotland, and published in various journals and magazines, and she won first prize in the Unbound Short Story Prize 2012.

As usual there’ll be social writing games, booze and tomfoolery, the independent press stall and the writers’ open mic. Flash fiction, short fiction, true stories and excerpts of larger works all are welcome at the open mic; please keep your contributions at 7 minutes or under.

There’ll be an apocalypse-themed gift for everyone brave enough to read their work at the open mic. Please note: Wharf Chambers is a members’ club and you must be a member, or guest of a member, in order to attend an event here. To join, please visit www.wharfchambers.org. Joining costs £1 and takes a minimum of 48 hours to take effect.
