Fictions of Every Kind: Garden

“He who has a garden and a library wants for nothing.” (Cicero) Welcome to Fictions of Every Kind: Garden, where we invite you to ponder upon what seeds you can sow, where the weeds will come up no matter what you might do, and how you might plant a garden of rememberance. Our invited speakers at this event will be: SAI MURRAY Sai Murray is a writer, poet and graphic designer of Bajan/Afrikan/English heritage. His debut poetry collection, Ad-liberation, was published in 2013 and was described as “social commentary at its best… wry, witty and biting… traverses standard poetry and prose”, by The Jamaica Gleaner. He has been commissioned for: Weatherfronts: Writing Climate Change (2015); Action Saro-Wiwa (2015); C Words: Culture, Carbon, Climate, Capital (2009) and been Southwark 2007B Poet in Residence (2008). RACHEL BOWER Rachel Bower is an Artist in Residence at Bank Street Arts (Sheffield) and runs Verse Matters: a monthly feminist arts night. She is also a Cheney Cultural Fellow at the University of Leeds. + Music (to be confirmed) + Writers' open mic, at which flash fiction, short fiction, poetry, true stories, and excerpts of larger works, are all welcome. We do ask that you keep your contributions at 5 minutes or under. The 5 minute rule is necessary to make sure everybody has the chance to read. Please abide by it. Don't make us ring our bell at you! Please note: Wharf Chambers is a members' club, and you must be a member in order to attend an event here. Joining costs £1 and takes a minimum of 48 hours to take effect.
