Fictions of Every Kind: Flux, Monday Sept 26th

Monday September 26th, Wharf Chambers, 7.30pm (£3 in) In these weird, satire-defying times, we all need something to look forward to.... Welcome to Fictions of Every Kind: Flux, in which we consider the possibilities of change. We are very excited to be hosting two of the winners of the Remember Oluwale Writing Prize at this event. Our invited speakers at this event will be: DOMINIC GRACE is a writer from South Leeds and winner of the Remember Oluwale Award for Prose. He has been writing for theatre for several years and has had work produced by West Yorkshire Playhouse, Manchester Royal Exchange and many others. Like every other writer in the world, he writes about humanity. CHAR MARCH has been a freelance writer for the last 20 years. She’s won loads of awards for her poetry and short fiction, and as a playwright and screenwriter. Her credits include: five poetry collections, six BBC Radio4 plays, eight stage plays and two screenplays. She’s been Writer-in-Residence for: Leeds Hospitals Trust; Ty Newydd; Hull University Business School (and for Business Schools in Latvia, Slovenia and Belgium); the NHS in the North West; the Pennine Watershed Landscape Project; Impressions Photography Gallery; York City Art Gallery; the Annual Midwifery Conference. She grew up in Scotland’s industrial belt, lives in the Yorkshire Pennines and has been active in the Disability Politics Movement throughout her adult life. As ever, there will be a writers' open mic at this event at which short stories, flash fiction, true stories, and excerpts from larger works, are all welcome. Entry is still only £3! (Unless the pound has massively devalued by then, in which case, bring as many £50 notes in a wheelbarrow as you can.) * Please note: Wharf Chambers is a members' club and you must be a member to attend an event here. Joining costs £1 and takes a minimum of 48 hours to take effect. To join, see www.wharfchambers.org
